This is a series of albums featuring photographs of Getxo’s neighbours, collected by Begoña Salazar. Discover the history of the town through their eyes.

If you and your family and friends are from Getxo, you will find familiar faces in these handmade albums created by Begoña Salazar. Born in Altsasu, she has lived in the Old Port for 25 years, has collected all kinds of photographs donated by the inhabitants of the village and has bound them into more than a hundred albums. We have digitalised some of them which you can consult here.

Instadeath

Instadeath is the act of dying instantly regardless of the armor or life points you have at the moment of impact. The last click before disappearing from Instagram without a trace. Instadeath is a kind of euthanasia. A collective ceremony in which to materialize the complicated decision of not wanting to belong, to leave.

Directed by Daniel Moreno Roldán and Roc Herms, this organization aims to help anyone who has conflicts in their relationship with Instagram and who, despite the willingness, is not able to solve them. We reflected on our presence on the internet, reminisced about moments we had experienced, and engaged in group therapy to try to face this process of disconnection with strength and determination.

Under that year’s festival theme, To Share, we set out to create an interactive experience that placed attendees –and non-attendees alike– at the center of the proposal by using an Instagram filter. But to share or not to share? Is Instagram a tool that boosts our ego, or does it actually make us more vulnerable? The experience was also available to try at home or by interacting with our real influencer set, projecting the images onto the walls of the houses in Plaza del Casino, in Algorta.

This filter has been made for Getxophoto by Raúl Goñi and Santi Grau (Public Protest Poster) together with five students from ELISAVA Escola Universitària de Disseny i Enginyeria of Barcelona: Carla Carrasco, Carla de la Torre, Daniel Verano, Sofia Tarragona and Laura Badía.

Playlist by Cris Lizarraga

Sharing ideas and putting them in common has always been a usual practice to stay on the same musical wavelength with the rest of her band, Belako. With this spirit, Cristina Lizarraga joins the 15th anniversary of the Festival by sharing some of her favorite references to listen to on repeat.

Cris Lizarraga

Cristina Lizarraga Iñárritu (Bilbao, 1992), known as Cris Lizarraga, is the singer and keyboardist of the band Belako. She studied a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country, where she met Josu Billelabeitia, the band’s vocalist and guitarist, and later completed a Master’s degree in Research in Art and Creation at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid. Cristina is also a bisexual activist and has published several articles on the bisexual community and feminism in Pikara Magazine.

In 2021, the Festival could also be enjoyed on the friendly film platform Filmin. By searching for the Getxophoto channel, viewers could watch the films selected by the team around the theme of that edition, To Share. Seven categories with ten films each: People Have the Power, MAPS, At Home, Collective Identities, In the First Person, and Bodies.
